Washburn soccer advances to MIAA Tournament semifinals with 1-0 win over Northeastern State

On the strength of Paige Swanson’s goal early in the second half, the Washburn soccer team advanced to the MIAA Tournament semifinals with a 1-0 win over Northeastern State on Wednesday in Tahlequah, Okla.

Swanson scored in the 50th minute and the No. 6-seeded Ichabods (10-8-1) held on to upset No. 3-seeded NSU (15-3) in the quarterfinals.

WU goalkeeper Kaitlin Minnich recorded the shutout, making three saves.

Washburn will advance to play No. 2-seeded Missouri Western in the semis on Friday in Warrensburg, Mo.
