KAWS to host playa lakes tour, workshop

KDWPT

Members of the public wanting to learn about playa lake management will be able to do so Jan. 9-10 in Colby during a two-part informational event hosted by the Kansas Alliance for Wetlands and Streams.

The event begins with a field tour of Wallace and Greeley counties on the first day and continues with a workshop on Day 2. The workshop will be at the Kansas Prairie Museum in Colby and will feature speakers with “decades of playa lake experience in management, ecology, hydrology research, and program cost delivery,” according to a news release. Local landowners also will share their experiences at the workshop.

Registration and lunch will be free for playa lake landowners and $50 per person for other participants.

For more information and to register, contact Joe Kramer at jkramer@kaws.org or (620) 388-5878, or Mary Howell at mhowell@kaws.org or (785) 562-8726. Additional details can also be found at www.kaws.org.
