Outlook: Cowboys started 7-0 before losing last three games, still making the playoffs on the points tiebreaker despite a 1-2 district mark. … Cowboys claimed undefeated league championship. … Among graduation losses were All-4A lineman Sam Burt and Parker Base and Parker O’Neal who were the top-two ground gainers for the Cowboys, combining for nearly 1,100 yards and 22 touchdowns rushing. … They also ranked 1-4 on the team in tackles with O’Neal leading the way with a team-high 118 stops. … Campbell ran for 346 yards and Hoerner is leading returning tackler with 67.

Outlook: Webster replaces Dan Sell as coach and is former assistant at Shawnee Mission West. … Irish ended season on eight-game losing streak. … Irish scored more than one touchdown in only one game last year, a 30-14 loss to Concordia, and on the season Chapman scored just 44 points. … Jackson threw for 524 yards stepping in as the starting quarterback as a sophomore and has two of his top-three targets back in Colston (225 yards) and Watkins (105 yards). … Irish haven’t posted a winning season since 2007.

Outlook: All five of last year’s losses came to playoff teams. … Lane, the state’s top pole vaulter last year, was the Tigers’ top receiver a year ago, making 11 catches for 247 yards and 4 TDs. … Pfizenmaier ran 821 yards, while Mendum averaged 9.5 yards per carry and had 219 total in a backup role. … Lane led the team in tackles with 126.

Concordia Panthers

Outlook: After going 6-4 in Kingsbury’s first year, Panthers slipped to just one win a year ago as injuries took their toll. … Dorman finished with more than 1,000 yards rushing, but Panthers must replace quarterback Cole Larsen and leading receiver Matt James. … Line play will be strength with four of five starters returning.

Marysville Bulldogs

Coach: Dustin Heuer (5th year).

Outlook: Bulldogs’ three losses came to playoff teams and were by a combined 17 points. … Bulldogs’ 7-3 mark was program’s first winning season since 2009. … Number continue to rise with 31 lettermen returning. … Defense allowed just 11.5 points and 161.6 yards per game, but must replaced top-six tacklers and four first-team all-leaguers. … Roever is tops among returning tacklers with 53. … Blumer threw for 1,372 yards and 16 TDs, but lost leading receiver Jayton Haggard and leading rusher Hunter Warnick.

Wamego Red Raiders

Coach: Lee Weber (3rd year).
