Topeka High hoping to continue hot streak in Topeka Invitational

Topeka High, which enters the Topeka Invitational boys tournament on a three-game winning streak, will get the opportunity to avenge an earlier loss in Thursday’s first round.

The Trojans, 5-3 after wins at Hayden and Highland Park last week, will face Lawrence at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Highland Park. The Lions claimed a come-from-behind 44-39 win over High in the season opener.

“I’m really looking forward to that rematch with Lawrence,” High coach Pat Denney said. “It’s another quality opponent and we have a lot of respect for those guys. It doesn’t get any easier. It’s just going to keep getting harder and harder.

“I hope we’re up for the challenge. Three days in a row, and I hope we’re ready to play.”

Senior Larry White scored 50 points in the Trojans’ two wins last week while sophomore King Sutton scored a career-high 18 points in High’s win over Highland Park last Friday.
