SM Northwest girls rally late to top Washburn Rural, 55-52

Washburn Rural’s girls basketball team saw its six-game winning streak come to a heartbreaking end Tuesday night at Shawnee Mission Northwest, with the Cougars putting together a furious fourth-quarter rally to pull out a 55-52 win at Northwest.

 

Washburn Rural (6-2) took a 43-30 lead into the fourth quarter before Northwest outscored the Junior Blues 25-9 in the fourth quarter to take the victory.

The Junior Blues got a game-high 21 points from junior Carly Bachelor while senior Kendall Michalski added 13 points and three 3-pointers.

Junior Hannah Black led SM Northwest with 18 points, including four 3-pointers.
