BIG 12 questions

1. How much does the Big 12 prefer to pass?

Balance is often cited as a key factor by several Big 12 coaches and some have the ammo to do so without stifling the arms of their quarterbacks. Five league QBs average more than 300 yards passing and rank among the top 14 in the nation.

2. How can ball security be a thing for K-State?

The pig can be slippery, even for a program with disciplinary safeguards. Dropped passes, as well as fumbles by dependable returner D.J. Reed, are disconcerting. Still, K-State is plus-six in turnover margin and plays in a league where only four teams have positive margins.

3. How does Mike Gundy spend a bye week?

After tales of his rattlesnake and turtle hunts, and the ongoing discussion over his mullet, the Oklahoma State coach is one intriguing dude. Also, we recently observed the 10-year anniversary of his “I’m a Man! I’m 40!’’ rant. Oh, Gundy’s Cowboys appear back on track, too.

4. Will the Big 12 command another prime-time television window?

Probably, though the first full slate of conference games is scheduled next week and none will be played at night. Remember, too, the Big 12 championship game will kick off at 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 2. ESPN GameDay will broadcast from TCU on Saturday. Breakfast is served.
