Bigger’s near-misses, Bennett’s perfect game pace bowlers

Gooldy, Bahr, Springer combine for five women’s honor roll scores

City bowlers enjoyed a post-Halloween surge last week, with five open-league players producing seven top-10-ranked scores on the season honor roll.

Ashton Bigger just missed a 300/800 double with a 257-296-243 – 796 performance Friday in the Hexagon League at Gage Bowl. The series ranks fourth on the men’s list.

Two nights earlier, Omar Bennett joined the men’s 300 club with a 300-202-226 – 728 outing in the Little Eight League at Gage.

Four series were added to the women’s top 10: Rachel Gooldy, 243-247-245 – 735 (second place) on Tuesday in the Lenahan League at West Ridge Lanes; Chelsie Bahr, 247-234-244 – 727 (fourth) in the same league; Michelle Springer, 277-235-197 – 709 (seventh) in the Tuesday Nite All-Stars League at Gage; and Bahr again, 207-258-233 – 688 (10th) in the Party Time League at Gage.

Springer’s 277 game ranks fifth.

Honor roll scores also were popular in the senior and youth ranks.

In senior action, Jim Charity tied himself for fourth place with a 193-236-278 – 707 series (the 278 ranks fifth); Rick Schauff tied for 10th with a 267 game; Ann Dick claimed fifth place with a 191-219-190 – 600 series; Cleora Cushinberry grabbed eighth with a 210 – 590 series; Bev Raye tied for second with a 236 game; and Kay Johnson tied fourth with a 235 game. Raye’s score came from Gage; the others were at West Ridge.

The youth were led by Cayla Bortz, who moved into first place for girls games and series with a 219-268-235 – 722 performance at Gage (the 235 is tied for 10th).

Jared Freed topped the boys with a 233-258-227 – 718 series (third place) at West Ridge, where Adam Wood tied for second with a 279 game. At Gage, Nathan Mercer moved into fourth with a 259 – 904 four-game series, while Brayden Prockish tied for eighth with a 267 game.
