Falcons edge Runners 2-1


BLAINE, Minn. — Port Huron’s Easton Powers and Rick DeRosa made goals in a shootout as the Fighting Falcons beat the Topeka RoadRunners 2-1 on Thursday in the NAHL Showcase.

Despite outshooting Port Huron 42-17, the Runners fell to 0-2 on the season.

Linus Johansson got the Runners on the scoreboard at the 8:12 mark in the first period, scoring off an assist from Luke Veitch.

Ian Miller tied the contest at 1 with a power-play goal at the 11:30 mark of the second period.

The teams were scoreless in the third period and overtime, but Port Huron won the shootout 2-0. Attempts from four Runners — Brian Christie, Zach Schrotenboer, Kyle Sharkey and Ben Bahe — failed to connect.
