Ross, Cushinberry claim city women's bowling leads

Nelson, Poston, Crouch join men's season 300 club

Season bests by Angie Ross and Cleora Cushinberry, and perfect games by Tony Nelson, Geoff Poston and Jason Crouch topped the list of highlights for city league bowlers the past two weeks.

Ross strung together games of 227, 257 and 246 for a 730 series Oct. 7 in the Little Eight League at Gage Center Bowl to take the adult women’s lead away from Melissa Kraus, who rolled a 710 series earlier this season.

Cushinberry, who lost her senior women’s lead to Barb Tidwell’s 235-192-201 – 628 series on Oct. 8 at Center, regained the lead with a 225-221-222 – 668 set last Thursday in the Senior Wheel of Fortune League at West Ridge Lanes.

West Ridge also yielded the three 300 games, with Nelson rolling 300-183-240 – 723 on Oct. 11 in the Sunday 6 p.m. Mixer League, Poston shooting 210-300-228 – 738 a week ago Tuesday in the Lenahan Ultimate Scratch League and Crouch rolling 236-300-199 – 735 last Sunday in the 6 p.m. Mixer.

Poston also posted the top men’s series over the past two weeks with a 289 – 783 on Oct. 6 in Lenahan, which also produced Kyle Turner’s 266 – 779 and Crouch’s 279 – 763 that night, and Mike Parhomek’s 278 – 762 last week.

Other top women’s scores: Chelsie Bahr, 269 – 686 and 245 – 662 at Center and 256 – 678 and 228 – 648 at West Ridge; Michelle Springer, 226 – 636 and 232 – 637 at West Ridge; Angie Ross, 220 – 646 at Center; and Shelby Rouse, 224 – 639 at Center.

Jim Charity paced the senior men with a 217-256-289 – 762 last week at West Ridge, while Dennis Uhl shot 216-258-258 – 732 two weeks ago at Center, and Elmer Burnett rolled 245-245-225 – 715 the same week at West Ridge.
