City men's 300 club grows to nine with three 300s

Opening-game 300s by Phil Deedrick and Travis Wanna and a closing-game 300 by Rick Hladky highlighted last week’s city bowling action.

Deedrick struck first with a 300-210-210 – 720 performance a week ago Monday in the BNSF League at West Ridge Lanes; Hladky was next with a 169-189-300 – 658 effort Wednesday in the Big 10 League at West Ridge; and Wanna followed with a 300-209-201 – 710 outing Thursday in the JPJ & Associates League at Gage Center Bowl.

The three 300s pushed the men’s total to nine this season; there have been two 300s by youth boys.

The top adult series were posted by David Halseth, 757 at Center; Russ Wilson, 757 with a 299 game at West Ridge; Steve Harrison, 753 at West Ridge; and Chelsie Bahr, 676 at Center and 669 at West Ridge.

Topping the youth ranks were John Baeten, 269 – 693, and Carley Sullivan, 235 – 618, at West Ridge; and, for four games, Preston Millard, 258 – 904; Adam Wood, 836; Walker Gwaltney, 252 – 829; Andrea Wickstrum, 232 – 760; and Gabi Millard, 230 – 759, at Center.

The scores were produced by taking each bowler’s best mark from her three games, placing it in the corresponding frame of the fantasy game and adding handicap.

■ The deadline for entering the City Mixed Tournament, Nov. 14-15 and 21-22 at West Ridge, is Nov. 8. Squad times are 1:30 p.m. Saturdays and 11 a.m. Sundays. The entry fee is $22 per event with an additional $2 for all-events.

■ The next city bowling roundup will appear on Oct. 21.
