Letter: Topeka boasts diversity

There has been a lot of talk about what we need in the next police chief, but diversity is not something that protesters can complain about. The makeup of Topeka is 70 percent white, 10 percent African American, 12 percent Hispanic and 7 percent “other.” Our police department boasts an 8 percent African American, 10 percent Hispanic and 6 percent “other” workforce.

The numbers do represent our community, and I feel that those who want to complain should get a grip on the facts before opening their mouths.
