State board of canvassers to certify Kansas special election results

The state board of canvassers will meet on Monday to certify the results of the April 11 special Congressional election that state treasurer Ron Estes won.

The state board of canvassers will meet on Monday according to a Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach’s office to certify the results of the April 11 special Congressional election in south-central Kansas.

In addition to Kobach, the meeting at 9:15 a.m. in Memorial Hall in downtown Topeka is expected to include Gov. Sam Brownback and Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt who will issue a certificate of election to Republican Ron Estes who defeated Democrat James Thompson in Kansas’ 4th Congressional district race. The special election was held to replace U.S. Rep. Mike Pompeo who was appointed CIA director by President Donald Trump. Estes had been serving as state treasurer.

The state board of canvassers conducts the final canvass for all national and state primary and general elections.
