Manhattan Mercury reports 22-year-old grandson of Bill Snyder has died in Manhattan

A grandson of Kansas State University football coach Bill Snyder died Wednesday in Manhattan, according to published reports.

 

Matthew Snyder, 22, the son of assistant Kansas State associate head coach Sean Snyder, died Wednesday afternoon after emergency responders were sent to a home in the 3300 block of Claflin Avenue in Manhattan.

According to the Manhattan Mercury newspaper, emergency personnel responded to a medical call at the address.

The newspaper said Riley County police confirmed there had been a death but didn’t provide additional information.

Citing Riley County records, the Mercury said the residence where emergency responders were sent belongs to KTMW LLC, which is owned by Sean and Wanda Snyder.

In addition to serving as associate head coach of the Wildcats’ football team, Sean Snyder also is special teams coordinator and director of football operations.

As of early Thursday, the Kansas State athletics department hadn’t released an official statement.

Matthew McCrane, the team’s kicker for the 2017 season, tweeted his condolences on Thursday morning.
