An overnight fire that destroyed a rural Jackson County house is under investigation, authorities said Thursday morning.

The blaze was reported at 11:15 p.m. Wednesday at a residence at 12170 X Road in southeastern Jackson County.

First-arriving crews found the house to be “fully engulfed” in flames, said Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse.

It was determined no people or pets were inside the home at the time of the fire, Morse said.

The fire was declared contained at 12:25 a.m. The house was considered a total loss.

The home was occupied by Louis and Christina Williams and three children, Morse said.
