Topeka police on Wednesday released the name of a woman arrested in connection with driving under the influence after a traffic accident Monday.
Taken into custody was Lindsey Michelle Skinner, 24, said police Lt. Colleen Stuart.
Shawnee County Jail records show Skinner was booked in connection with DUI by someone who has two DUI convictions, violating a restriction banning her from operating a vehicle with no ignition interlock device, driving on a suspended license, transporting an open container of alcoholic beverage and failing to report an accident with an unattended vehicle.
However, only one DUI case involving Skinner — from 2016 in Topeka Municipal Court — could be found in a search of Topeka Municipal and Shawnee County District Court records.
Skinner was arrested after a crash that was reported about 2:40 p.m. Monday at S.W. 12th and Oakley Avenue.
The driver tried to run from the crash scene but didn’t get very far, Topeka police Sgt. Jason Cooper said on the scene.
An airbag in the silver Chevy passenger car had deployed and the rear window was broken. Police weren’t aware of any injuries, he said.
Police were looking into whether the vehicle was involved in other crashes in the area, Cooper said.
