Kansas City pair arrested after traffic stop in Jackson County

Two Kansas City-area residents were arrested Tuesday night in connection with drug possession after a traffic stop near Mayetta, the Jackson County sheriff said.

Sheriff Tim Morse said Tashara D. Yeargin-Charles, 39, of Kansas City, Kan., was arrested in connection with a traffic infraction, then booked into the Jackson County Jail in connection with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while suspended and transporting an open container.

A passenger in the vehicle, Jeremy Laray Whitley, 31, of Kansas City, Mo., was arrested in connection with possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, interference with law enforcement and transporting an open container.

Morse said deputies also found checks and identification documents that didn’t belong to Yeargin-Charles or Whitley.

Bond for both suspects was pending Wednesday, and Morse said additional charges were possible.
