Man pistol-whipped during robbery near S.W. 17th and Western Ave.

Man suffered head injury

A man was transported to a local hospital Thursday after being robbed and pistol-whipped near S.W. 17th and Western Ave.

 

The incident was reported around 4:40 p.m.

The man was walking on S.W. 17th when he was approached by three males, Topeka police officer Chris Janes said on the scene.

A preliminary investigation indicates the three robbers took some of the man’s belongings and pistol-whipped him.

The man suffered a head injury that wasn’t thought to be life-threatening, Janes said.

Two of the males were white, but no further description was available, Janes said. A description of the vehicle associated with the incident also wasn’t available.

AMR left the scene shortly after 5 p.m.

Four TPD patrol vehicles and the Topeka Fire Department responded.
