Man says he was stabbed when someone stole his bike in midtown Topeka

Topeka police were investigating a report of a stabbing that occurred during a robbery in which a man’s bicycle was stolen early Wednesday in the city’s midtown area.

 

Police were summoned around 5 a.m. to the emergency department of St. Francis hospital, where the victim was being treated.

The victim told authorities he was in the vicinity of S.W. 6th and Buchanan around 4 a.m. Wednesday when someone approached him and stole his bicycle.

During the incident, the man said he was stabbed in his arm.

Later Wednesday, Topeka police Lt. Colleen Stuart said authorities had taken an incident report, but the victim was uncooperative with further information.

The victim’s name and condition weren’t immediately available.
