Teen in custody after shoplifting incident to west Topeka business

A teenager was in custody early Tuesday afternoon after a shoplifting incident at a west Topeka business, authorities said.

 

Topeka police were notified of the theft, which occurred at a business near S.W. 17th and Wanamaker Road.

After receiving a description of the individual suspected in the theft, officials said, officers were able to track down the person to a residence several blocks to the east in the 1500 block of S.W. Glendale.

The teen didn’t escape with the property, a Shawnee County Sheriff’s dispatcher said.

The teen’s name wasn’t available early Tuesday afternoon.
