Washburn police investigate report of rape in campus residence hall

Washburn University police are investigating a rape that occurred early Saturday in a campus residence hall.

According to an alert issued to students and staff, the reported rape occurred in Lincoln Hall, a residence hall that opened in 2016 and houses up to 350 students.

Campus police said the suspect and victim knew each other and officers spoke with each of them.

“The investigation continues and at this time there is nothing to indicate any ongoing threat to the campus community,” police said in the alert.
