Topeka police said they arrested a driver who led them on a chase early Wednesday evening while driving a stolen vehicle.

Taken into custody was Brandon King, 25, said police Lt. Aaron Jones.

He said that after police tried to stop the vehicle about 6:30 p.m. near S.E. 10th and Golden Avenue, King drove it south and left the road at the T-intersection at S.E. 21st and Golden Avenue.

King lost control of the vehicle, which jumped the curb on the south side, struck a utility pole and slid into a ditch, coming to rest against a tree line, Jones said.

He said one of King’s three passengers was treated at the scene for very minor injuries, and all those passengers were then released.

King was booked into the Shawnee County Jail in connection with fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement officer, Jones said.
