Man flown to area hospital by helicopter after being stabbed in Lawrence

Victim and suspect are known to each other, LPD says

A man was flown by helicopter to an area hospital after being stabbed in Lawrence.

The incident was reported shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of W. 14th.

The victim was a 30-year-old man who had been stabbed at least once, Lawrence police officer Drew Fennelly said. A helicopter landed at Lawrence Memorial Central Middle School and the man was transported from the scene to an area trauma center. The incident occurred in a parking lot at 121 W. 14th and wasn’t associated with the school. The man’s injuries were thought to be serious, but not life-threatening.

The alleged suspect hasn’t been located, but is known to the victim, Fennelly said.
