Lawrence man wanted in connection with aggravated assaulted arrested

John Robert Barry has been arrested after an incident last week in Lawrence. (LPD)

A 27-year-old Lawrence man wanted for aggravated assault was jailed early Wednesday after escaping police apprehension last week in north Lawrence.

John Robert Barry was booked into Douglas County Jail at 2:15 a.m. Wednesday, jail records indicate.

At 3 p.m. Aug. 30, Lawrence Police officers responded to a mobile home in the 100 block of Maple Street in reference to a disturbance with weapons.

Initial information indicated Barry was barricaded inside the residence with a gun, as well as another individual who was unable to leave the residence because of health issues.

Officers took up a perimeter position and began to make contact with Barry.

After several hours, calls were made to Barry but his location couldn’t be verified. Shortly before 8:30 p.m., an investigative robot was used to make entry into the residence. At that time, it was determined Barry wasn’t in the residence.

Barry’s bond listed on the Douglas County Jail website was $2,500 cash or surety.

No other information was given on the incident.
