Rural Topeka’s Soldier Township Fire Department’s station struck by bullet Sunday evening

Incident may have been a drive-by shooting

The Soldier Township Fire Department’s station was struck by a bullet Sunday evening, according to a Facebook post on the department’s page.

Officials with the department believe the damage occurred as a result of a drive-by shooting. The bullet entered through a station’s overhead door and exited out a window. The fire station is located at 600 N.W. 46th.

The Facebook post indicated that other gunshots were reported in the area. It urged people to be aware of their surroundings and unusual vehicles.
