Topeka police reported that they seized a fake handgun about 1:15 p.m. Friday from a man they took into custody after he fled from an officer on a motorcycle. The man’s name wasn’t immediately released.

Officers at the scene said the man apparently sped away when the officer tried to stop him in west Topeka, then was taken into custody after he and the motorcycle were located in the backyard at 1932 S.W. Central Park Ave.

The man was found to be carrying a fake handgun, police said.
