Two people were hospitalized after a single-vehicle crash Wednesday morning on an ice-slickened Brown County road, authorities said.
The crash was reported at 11:09 a.m. Wednesday in the 1700 block of 240th Road, about two miles east of Hiawatha.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the crash occurred when the driver of a 2005 Dodge Dakota pickup truck that was westbound on 240th Road lost control of the vehicle on the icy roadway.
The truck entered the south ditch and rolled two to three times, coming to rest in an adjacent field.
Both the driver of the pickup truck and a passenger were reported injured and were transported to Hiawatha Community Hospital for treatment.
The driver was identified as Daniel R. Post, 53, of Hiawatha, and the passenger was identified as Dorsey Simpson, 53, of Independence, Mo.
The patrol said neither Post nor Simpson was wearing a seat belt.
