Weather update for Friday, Jan. 12, 2018: Cloudy skies, wind chill readings -6 to 4 degrees expected

Wind chill values will be between -6 and 4 degrees on Friday in the capital city and northeast Kansas, according to the National Weather Service in Topeka.

 

Increasing clouds, winds from the north and a high near 21 degrees are also in the forecast.

Friday night should be cloudy with a low around 10 degrees and wind chill values between zero and 5 degrees along with northerly winds around 10 miles per hour.

Mostly sunny skies with a high near 19 degrees and wind chill values between -1 and 9 degrees are on tap with winds from the north around 5 miles per hour.

There’s a 20 percent chance of snow after midnight on Saturday along with increasing clouds and a low around 11 degrees. Winds should be calm becoming southerly around 5 miles after midnight.

The rest of the weekend and next week’s forecast, according to the National Weather Service:

Sunday: A 20 percent chance of snow before noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 34. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon.

Sunday night: A 50 percent chance of snow after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 17.

Monday: A 20 percent chance of snow before noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 20.

Monday night: Mostly clear, with a low around -1.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 15.

Tuesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 0.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 26.

Wednesday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 16.
