Topeka police on Tuesday identified a woman whose body was found last week in a vacant lot on the city’s west side.

Police Lt. Colleen Stuart said no foul play was suspected in the death of Tina Cole, 59, of Merriam.

According to Stuart, officers were called around 12:30 p.m. Jan. 2 to the basement area of a vacant lot in the 300 block of S.W. Watson.

Stuart said workers dropping off construction items saw what they believed to be a body in a basement area of the lot and notified authorities.

Stuart said Topeka police officers responded to the scene and found the body of a white woman who was believed to be in her 50s. Medical personnel pronounced the woman deceased.

The location was about six blocks east and three blocks north of S.W. 6th and Gage.
