Topeka weather for Monday, Jan. 8, 2018: Highs in 50s today, Tuesday and Wednesday before snow on Thursday

After early-morning fog, look for the warmest day so far this new year on Monday, as highs should reach the lower 50s in the Topeka area.

 

More of the same is expected Tuesday, with even warmer weather on Wednesday, as highs should approach 60 degrees.

Thursday will be much colder, as highs should only make it to the lower-30s with a chance for snow.

Here is the seven-day outlook from the National Weather Service office in Topeka:

Monday: Patchy fog before 9 a.m. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 50. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

Monday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 29. South wind around 5 mph.

Tuesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 52. South wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Tuesday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 37. South wind around 10 mph.

Wednesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 57. South wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Wednesday night: Rain likely, mainly after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 29. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Thursday: A chance of rain and snow before 7 a.m., then a chance of snow between 7 a.m. and noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 31. Blustery. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent..

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 11. Blustery.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 32.

Friday night: A 20 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 11.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 21.

Saturday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 7.

Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 28.
