Buffalo rounded up, returned to pasture after getting loose Thursday near Lake Shawnee

About a half-dozen buffalo were in the process of being rounded up early Thursday near the west side of Lake Shawnee, just east of Topeka.

Authorities at 8:18 a.m. said the buffalo had gotten loose from their pasture and were seen in the vicinity of the 4300 block of S.E. West Edge Road.

The owner of the buffalo had been notified and efforts were under way to return them to their nearby pasture.

Law enforcement officers were keeping an eye on the buffalo until they could be moved back to their pasture.
