‘Stalled-out’ semi has fuel leak Tuesday afternoon, resulting in traffic back-up on I-70 in west Topeka

Traffic was backed up on eastbound Interstate 70 early Tuesday afternoon in west-central Topeka after a broken-down semi lost fluid that leaked onto the roadway.

Crews from the Topeka Fire Department were on the scene mopping up the spill as of 1:35 p.m. Tuesday.

Authorities said the semi had “stalled out” and pulled over to the side of I-70 between S.W. Gage and Macvicar.

Fluid then began leaking from the vehicle, causing a traffic hazard.

Kansas Highway Patrol troopers and Shawnee County sheriff’s deputies were on the scene assisting with traffic control.

No injuries were reported.
