Man, 24, killed in high-speed crash early Sunday north of Hays in western Kansas

A 24-year-old man was killed early Sunday in a single-vehicle crash in western Kansas, authorities said.

The crash was reported at 12:55 a.m. Sunday on 230th Road, about four miles north of Hays in Ellis County.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2006 Ford F-250 Super Duty pickup truck was traveling at a high rate of speed on 230th Road, went into the west ditch and rolled the vehicle.

The driver, Kyle Henri Colburn, of Canton, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The patrol didn’t indicate whether Colburn, who was alone in the truck, was wearing his seat belt.
