Two high school musicians from Topeka will participate in the American Choral Directors Association National High School Honor Choir next month in Minneapolis.
Kolby Van Camp and Rebekah DeGroff were selected from more than 4,200 singers across the nation to sing in the choir, which is under the direction of Eric Whitacre, a Grammy Award-winning American composer, conductor and speaker known for his choral, orchestral and wind ensemble music.
Van Camp and DeGroff will rehearse with the honor choir March 8-10 before its performance with the Minnesota Orchestra in Orchestra Hall in downtown Minneapolis.
The concert will feature songs by Whitacre, including “Sleep” and “Five Hebrew Love Songs.”
Van Camp is a senior and DeGroff is a junior in Cornerstone Family Schools. They participate in Cornerstone’s choir and Deo Gloria ensemble.
