CJOnline on Friday is providing the public a chance to ask questions of the five candidates running for mayor of Topeka in next Tuesday’s primary election.

The five have each indicated they plan to take part in a live blog on that website from 11:30 a.m to 12:30 p.m. Friday.

Capital-Journal managing editor Sherman Smith will moderate the discussion. Questions may be submitted by going to the blog at cjonline.com once it begins; emailing Smith in advance at sherman.smith@cjonline.com; or tweeting at Smith at @TCJShermanSmith. Each candidate taking part will receive an opportunity to answer each question.

The mayor’s office is currently held by Larry Wolgast, who has chosen not to seek re-election. The field of five candidates for mayor will be pared to two in next Tuesday’s citywide primary election. Topeka’s next mayor will be chosen in the Nov. 7 general election.

Those candidates are Topeka City Councilwoman Michelle De La Isla, Spencer Duncan, Chris Schultz, Clark W. Trammell and Mark Weiser.
