Topeka Police are investing a robbery at a south side gas station Sunday night, but have few details.

Officers were dispatched to the Phillips 66 at 29th and Topeka Blvd. just before 9:50 p.m. for a possible armed robbery, but about 25 minutes later a Topeka Police Department officer at the scene who declined to be identified by his full name said investigators had little information because of lack of eye witnesses.

TPD policy only requires an officer to provide a last name. A staff directory obtained through an open records request indicates Shawn Doiron was the officer at the scene.

The employee in the gas station didn’t see the robbery or the suspect, he said, but told officers a safe was stolen.

The gas station remained closed during the investigation but at least five customers pulled into the parking lot.
