Man reports being kidnapped, assaulted early Tuesday in Pottawatomie County

A man suffered injuries from an apparent kidnapping and altercation early Tuesday in Pottawatomie County.

The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an injured man near the Rocky Ford Fishing area, sheriff Greg Riat said.

They found the man, later identified as Josh Bearden, 27, of Georgia. He was transported to a hospital for unspecified treatment. His injuries weren’t believed to be life-threatening. Bearden reported he suffered the injuries during an altercation involving two unknown people who allegedly took him against his will from rural Geary County, Riat said.

The two fled the area in Bearden’s white 1997 Dodge Dakota pickup truck. It has a Georgia license plate reading RGH3041.
