Topeka’s only Taco John’s closes

Topeka’s only Taco John’s restaurant has closed its doors.

A representative with Taco John’s International, based in Cheyenne, Wyo., confirmed the store, located at 1015 S.W. Wanamaker, had closed. She had no further information.

The store, which was owned by a franchisee, appears to have closed this week.

The Topeka store has been removed from the Taco John’s website, where all locations nationwide are noted.

In March, an 18-year-old was arrested following an armed disturbance at the restaurant.

During the incident, a Topeka police officer discharged his firearm.

No one was struck by the gunfire.

Tieler Alan Lay was booked into the Shawnee County Jail in connection with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, disorderly conduct and other offenses.

Mayoral elections are Aug. 2
