Cyclist dies Saturday in western Kansas after being struck by vehicle

A man bicycling Saturday night was killed in Wichita County when he was struck from behind by a vehicle.

Eric Fishbein, 61, of San Luis, Calif., was eastbound on K96 in the roadway, when he was struck by a 2014 Honda Accord driven by Jessica Isabel Carrasco, 25, of Hays, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol’s crash log.

The incident was reported at 10:10 p.m. Saturday, eight miles east of Leoti in western Kansas.

Carrasco, 25, and a passenger, Jesus Antonio Castillo, 27, of Scott City, were transported to Wichita County Hospital with possible injuries. A two-year-old child in the Honda wasn’t injured. All three were wearing seat belts, the crash log indicated.
