Members of the police department pay tribute
Dozens of police vehicles slowly escorted Cpl. Jason Harwood's body Monday afternoon after the hearse left the Law Enforcement Center.

Members of the Topeka Police Department stood silently as the body of Cpl. Jason Harwood was moved to the funeral home Monday afternoon.

As his body was carried to the black hearse, the officers stood at attention and saluted the fallen officer.

Approximately 40 police vehicles lined Third Street and drove slowly away with their lights on as the hearse pulled out of the parking lot.

Other officers stood on the roof of the building to watch the procession leave while some residents gathered in the parking lot and across the street to witness the event.
