The Topeka Farm Show will celebrate its 29th anniversary this year, the show includes more than 300 exhibiting companies, and 550 booths. There will be daily horsemanship clinics, events for the entire family, free parking, free admission, and free health care programs.
3. Story Slam
When: 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12
Where: Lawrence Arts Center, 940 New Hampshire St., Lawrence
The trouble with technology is the theme of the next story slam at the arts center, where people gather to tell a five to seven minute true personal story related to the theme. 4. MLK Jr. Community Celebration

Experience the creative work of the art and writing contest, share in the words and music of the civil rights movement, and listen to Dr. Marché Fleming-Randle’s keynote address. 5. Jam4Dan 11

Cost: $5 donation per day
A three-day music benefit, Jam4Dan is a memorial celebration in honor of Topeka musician and guitar teacher Dan Falley. At least a dozen musicians perform each day at The Celtic Fox, with new performers each year. For information, bit.ly/2CxAY3z.
6. Winter Woolfest

7. Community Chili Supper

8. Taproom series release: coconut belly rub brown ale

Periodically, Happy Basset hosts a beer tasting for their latest concoction. This month, the taproom is offering a tropical beer, their coconut belly brown ale. 9. Last Minute Folk

Where: The Historic Jayhawk Theatre, 720 S.W. Jackson
The folk concert series will be welcoming singer/songwriter and musician Mark Dvorak to perform at this month’s concert. He’s a folk singer with an expansive repertoire of traditional folk songs. 10. Extraordinary Animals: Kansas Critters
