Hey all — Hopefully this weekend you had a chance to check out one of Topeka’s newest pizza places — Topeka Pizza, which is scheduled to open in January.
Unusual for new businesses, Topeka Pizza offered a sneak-peek prior to their opening, to host a children’s toy drive for the community. The business, located at 16039 S.W. Arvonia Place, exchanged free slices of pizza for unopened toys and new clothing items.
The restaurant is owned by brothers Justin and Brandon Kochan and is scheduled to open in January.
According to my fellow reporter, Katie Moore, Justin was a former Topeka RoadRunner during the 2009-2010 hockey season, and since then Justin and his family have come to love Topeka and wanted to put down roots.
On the schedule for next week is our New Year’s Eve special section! An expanded edition, I’m hoping to highlight some of the best things to do to start your year off right, the biggest parties in the area, and even talking to some local “celebrities” to hear what they have planned for 2018!
Personally, what I’m most excited about are all the new businesses coming to downtown Topeka. New fine dining experiences, a bowling alley — the momentum of business owners is infectious, and I’m not the only one who notices.
Talking with new Topeka restaurant owner Adam VanDonge, he said group’s like Visit Topeka and other entrepreneur’s excited him to bring his business here, and he’s already making plans to partner with other local businesses and expand Topeka’s offerings.
