Best Financial Planner
Edward Jones was founded as a financial investment firm in St. Louis in 1922. Today, 22 financial advisers serve Topeka, part of more than 15,000 advisers in the United States and Canada.
“One thing that sets us apart is the fact that we are employee-owned,” said Topeka financial adviser Nate Hill, adding that of the company’s 43,000 associates, about 20,000 are limited partners.
The backing of a large company gives Hill and other advisers needed research and resources. Technology changed the industry, offering online access to investment advice, he said.
“The difficult part is discernment and finding out what’s good advice and what’s just somebody throwing their opinion out there,” he said. “We have great backing and support in the different types of investments. We’re not out on our own.”
Edward Jones advisers focus on relationship building and clients who are serious long-term investors, Hill noted.
“We’re big believers in diversification,” he said. “There are certain types of investments that we don’t touch because they’re too risky, so we’re not for everyone.”
The company offers options for people at different stages in their lives, Hill said, and the advising partnership requires flexibility.
“We know that life happens, so we’re able to strategize and adjust as life events come up,” he said.
